This past July, the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Honored the memory of Paul. A. Witherspoon (Earth Sciences Division first Director, 1977-1982), by announcing a new midcareer award, the “Paul A. Witherspoon Mid-career Lecture in Hydrologic Sciences.”
The goal is to recognize outstanding contributions in the hydrologic sciences by a midcareer scientist (within 6 to 20 years post-Ph.D. degree) and will bridge the Hydrologic Science Early Career Award, the Hydrologic Science Award, and the Langbein lecture.
Nominations will begin with the 2016 cycle of the AGU Honors program.
For more information about Paul and the impact he has made within the geosciences community, go to his archived ESD Profile page. Also stop by the AGU Fall Meeting 2015 Exhibit Hall, booth # 1005. EESA staff will be on-hand to answer more questions.
