My research primarily involves reactive transport modeling to provide a comprehensive and predictive understanding of biogeochemical processes in various types of subsurface environments and at different space-time scales. I am currently involved in (1) developing a reactive transport model for quantifying carbon fate and transport at the Rifle and East River sites as part of the Watershed Function Scientific Focus Area, (2) identifying hot spots and hot moments of biogeochemical processes in Arctic soils as part of the Next Generation Ecosystem Experiment-Arctic, (3) implementing a new surface complexation model for the Savannah River site as part of the Advanced Simulation Capability for Environmental Management, and (4) multi-scale modeling of geochemical impacts on fracture evolution. I am also involved in efforts related to benchmarking reactive transport codes for environmental problems. My previous work focused on understanding the influence of heterogeneities and hydrological perturbations on coupled hydrological and geochemical processes in experimental soil columns and a municipal landfill site in Norman, OK.
