Biography
Chet Hopp is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Energy Geoscience Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research interests include the relationship between seismicity and subsurface energy applications (conventional geothermal reservoirs, enhanced geothermal, CO2 storage). He uses passive seismic monitoring networks, high-precision displacement probes (SIMFIP) and other borehole monitoring data to relate injection-induced changes in the reservoir to the occurrence and characteristics of microearthquakes. His other research interests include the seismic monitoring of volcanoes, waveform-based event detection algorithms and open-source software development.
