James W. Rector is a Professor of GeoEngineering with the University of California, Berkeley, in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research expertise and interests include borehole seismology and MWD technology including seismic while drilling. He also has an active interest in seismic unconventional reservoir characterization and hydraulic fracture monitoring. He is also a leader in near surface seismology including  tunnel and void detection.
