Jana Voriskova is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Ecology Department of the Climate & Ecosystem Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (Berkeley Lab). Her research interests include molecular microbial ecology of aquatic and soil microorganisms. Her current research project aims to determine the role of microbial communities in decomposition of terrestrial organic carbon compounds in aquatic environment. Jana received her Ph.D. in molecular biology in 2013 from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. During her Ph.D. work she studied structure and function of fungal communities in temperate forest ecosystem. Before joining Berkeley Lab, Jana was a postdoctoral fellow in Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) and Center for Permafrost (CENPERM) at University of Copenhagen, Denmark where she participated in project aiming to understand the response of microbial communities to predicted climate change in arctic ecosystem.
