Biography
Katerina Georgiou is soil biogeochemist and chemical engineer studying the environmental controls of soil carbon dynamics and how soil carbon storage responds to increases in temperature and plant inputs. Her research is focused on developing and using data-driven numerical models of soil processes to better predict how carbon and nutrient cycling in terrestrial ecosystems will respond to changes in climate and land use. She received a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering as a NSF GRFP and DOE SCGSR Graduate Fellow at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
