Biography
Likun is currently holds a guest faculty position with the Climate & Ecosystem Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. from Penn State, where he focused on studying the extreme value theory and developing flexible models for extremes of spatial processes. For his postdoctoral studies at the lab, he works closely with Mark Risser to apply the advanced Bayesian models and develop novel methodology to study a variety of weather processes and their corresponding climatology. The long-term goal of this work is to characterize extreme weather events and describe the influence of greenhouse gas emissions and other human activities on these events.
