Biography

Sara Gushgari-Doyle is a microbial ecologist and bioinformatician. Her research interests include transformation of complex carbon substrates and culturing rare and difficult-to-culture microorganisms. The goal of her research is to use big data and computational approaches to inform laboratory enrichment and isolation strategies from terrestrial ecosystem environments. She received her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University in 2013, and M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2014 and 2019, respectively. She joined the Climate and Ecosystem Sciences Division in January, 2020.
