Congratulations to Sébastien Biraud, who is the new Climate Department Head for the Earth and Environmental Sciences Area (EESA), effective November 1, 2015. Sebastien will do a terrific job of leading the Department, and contributing to the strategic evolution of both EESA and the Climate Department.
Sébastien has been at LBNL since 2003. His research focuses on integrating and applying high-precision atmospheric trace gases observations from ground and airborne platforms for research on the atmospheric carbon cycle, and greenhouse gases source attribution in the southern Great Plains and more recently in Alaska. He serves as a PI of several projects, manages the AmeriFlux Management Project‘s Tech Team, and is active in developing new ground, airborne, and satellite-based remote sensing platforms to determine column integrated greenhouse gas mixing ratios.
Bill Collins’s outstanding leadership of the Climate Department over the past eight years is much appreciated. Bill is now Climate and Ecosystem Sciences Division Director.biraud
