- Project Description: Cryo-electron tomography is a cutting-edge technique increasingly used to reveal the molecular structure of cells and biomacromolecules in their native state. We apply this technique to clay mineral samples collected from natural environments to directly image clay layer structures with nanoscale resolution for the first time.
- Desired Education Level: Undergraduate student, Masters student
- Project PI/Mentor: Benjamin Gilbert and Michael Whittaker, Energy Geosciences Division
