From March 8-9, Berkeley Lab hosted a National Energy Storage Summit to connect national and regional leaders across industries, government, and communities to encourage collaboration on tackling the challenges of America’s energy future.

The two-day virtual summit featured a series of panels, discussions, and brainstorming sessions. On day one, topics focused on integrating policy, science, and technological innovation across materials and production processes, while day two focused on bridging stakeholders and facilitating partnerships to encourage collaborative energy solutions. EESA scientists Mike Whittaker and  Curt Oldenburg led discussions on topics regarding California’s lithium valley and large-scale and long-duration energy storage. Ben Gilbert, Jens Birkholzer, and Peter Nico also participated in a panel session, “Getting from Here to There: Setting the Stage on Energy Storage Needs & Challenges: Energy-Intense Industry.”
