Guided by a Team Approach

EESA is actively engaged in a 10-year Strategic Plan to integrate core research competencies and emerging technologies towards making informed decisions about using Earth’s resources wisely–motivated by one pressing question: is it possible to simultaneously ensure environmental sustainability and energy security? Our researchers represent some of the best of the fields exploring water, climate, and Earth’s energy systems and, working with the collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach around which Berkeley Lab was founded, align their work with many of the laboratory’s premier strategic directives.
