Student Opportunities

We are looking for motivated students to intern with us virtually for Summer 2021 (June-August 2021)!

Berkeley Lab’s Earth & Environmental Sciences Area (EESA) is a premier Earth sciences research organization where scientists tackle some of the most pressing environmental and energy challenges of the 21st century in order to enable sustainable stewardship and use of the Earth’s energy resources. There are opportunities available year-round to contribute as an intern or student assistant toward helping us carry out our important work. We are currently accepting applications from individuals interested in 2021 summer internships (virtual).

To apply for a 2021 Summer Internship opportunity with EESA, please take the following steps:

  1. Take a look at the list of EESA summer student projects and identify which projects you’re interested in. (If you have a specific topic in mind that is not listed, please contact Sandy Chin, schin@lbl.gov.)
  2. In the table below, identify which of the 2021 Summer Internship programs you are eligible for. Each program has different eligibility and application requirements. Please click on the link to each program and read carefully.
  3. Reach out to the EESA PI/Mentor to express your interest in their project, and to see if you are a good fit. Be sure to attach your resume/CV.
  4. Apply to internships for which you are eligible. In your application, please identify the Project Title and Project PI/Mentor of the projects for which you would like to be considered.
  5. Successful candidates will be notified of their internship offer around February–April 2021.
  6. Summer internships will take place virtually June – August 2021.
